WORLD FUN FAIR MONTH (September 1st – 29th, 2022)

World Fun Fair Month is celebrated in September every year in countries across the world. Fun fairs provide great entertainment for those visiting and allow people to have fun and create great memories. The month aims to show appreciation to the many showmen who partake in the events at the fair and to uphold and celebrate all aspects of the fairground tradition. Showmen from the U.K., Europe, North America, and Australasia join hands and work together to ensure that the event is a truly global and memorable one.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF CHARITY (September 5th, 2022)

The International Day of Charity was conceived as a Hungarian civil society initiative supported by the Hungarian Parliament and Government in 2011, to enhance visibility, organize special events, and in this way to increase solidarity, social responsibility and public support for charity. September 5 was chosen in order to commemorate the anniversary of the passing away of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, who received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 “for work undertaken in the struggle to overcome poverty and distress, which also constitute a threat to peace.”

NATIONAL READ A BOOK DAY in US (September 6th, 2022)

September 6 is National Read a Book Day in US, a day created to encourage people from all backgrounds to pick up a book and give reading a go. Given that 81% of Americans feel they don’t read enough, this is the perfect opportunity to take some time to enjoy a good book and the event can be celebrated around the world.

INTERNATIONAL WEEK OF HAPPINESS AT WORK (September 20th – 25th, 2022)

International Week of Happiness at Work is held from September 20 to 25 every year. This public domain initiative raises awareness of several actions to help improve employee happiness at work. These actions help employees feel happier at their place of work and, as a result, have positive effects on their health, well-being, and productivity. No doubt that happiness is the key to success in life. Emotions are part of the human mind and what we experience daily, and they influence our behavior as much as they affect other people. Research has shown that positive emotions promote creativity, well-being, bonding, and physical health.

INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE PRESERVATION OF THE OZONE LAYER (September 6th, 2022)

In 1987 representatives from 24 countries met in Montreal and announced to the world that it was time to stop destroying the ozone layer. In so doing, these countries committed themselves, via the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer, to rid the world of substances that threaten the ozone layer.

On December 19, 1994, the UN General Assembly proclaimed September 16 to be the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, commemorating the date when the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer was signed in 1987. The day was first celebrated on September 16, 1995.

NATIONAL DANCE DAY IN THE US (September 18th, 2022)

Established in 2010 by American Dance Movement co-founder, Nigel Lythgoe, and Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, National Dance Day is an annual celebration dedicated to dance, that encourages Americans of all ages to incorporate dance into their lives. By creating a focused day of celebration to show support for dance as a valuable form of exercise and of artistic expression, American Dance Movement aims to educate the public about dance and its many benefits, as well as make dance accessible and inclusive to everyone. American Dance Movement (ADM) believes that participation in dance connects the mind and body, promotes health and wellbeing, connects us with others and enables us to find joy through dance and movement. National Dance Day (NDD) is a day of celebrating dance, in all its forms, and takes place annually on the third Saturday in September.

YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH DAY (UK) (September 19th, 2022)

Youth Mental Health Day encourages understanding and discussion of mental health in young people, enabling them to live happy and healthy lives all year round. Each year, the day aims to get young people, and those who support them, talking about how to improve mental health.

NATIONAL EYE HEALTH WEEK in UK (September 20th – 25th 2022)

National Eye Health Week takes place during the last full week in September every year. This year, it takes place from September 19 to 25. It’s time to check on your eye health! A great time to let people know about its importance and the need for regular eye exams. During this week-long event, the U.K. government and various other organizations plan activities in-line with keeping your vision healthy. Eye care is important for everyone and goes beyond blurry vision, eye irritation, and the need for glasses.

WORLD CAR-FREE DAY (September 22nd, 2022)

Every year on or around 22 September, cities across the globe celebrate World Car-Free Day, encouraging motorists to give up their cars for a day. The event highlights the numerous benefits of going car-free to citizens, including reduced air pollution and the promotion of walking and cycling in a safer environment. The World Car-free Network says that the World Car-Free Day can be a showcase for just how our cities might look like, feel like, and sound like without car… 365 days a year.

EUROPEAN DAY OF LANGUAGES in UK (September 26th, 2022)

The European Day of Languages on 26 September is a well-established opportunity to raise awareness about language learning and linguistic diversity. Many language and cultural institutes, associations, universities and, in particular schools, take part. This year’s main event organised by the European Commission celebrating the European Year of Youth 2022 will have youth at its heart.

NATIONAL PANCAKES DAY in US (September 26th, 2022)

Pancakes are one of the favorite breakfast foods in North America. No wonder there is a holiday dedicated to them! The National Pancake Day is celebrated throughout the United States each year on September 26. As we are sure you are aware, pancakes are round, flat cakes prepared from a thick batter made of flour, milk, and eggs. They are cooked on a frying pan or griddle. American pancakes typically contain a raising agent therefore they are thicker than unleavened British pancakes.

What is World Heart Day celebrated for? World Heart Day is an opportunity to stop and consider how to use the heart for humanity, for nature and for us. World Heart Day 2022 is celebrated every year on September 29 to raise awareness about the rising concerns of heart health and cardiovascular illnesses.
