NATIONAL LOST SOCK DAY  (US)

Lost Sock Awareness Day takes place on May 9th every year in US, to commemorate all those odd socks that started life as a shiny new pair.

How to Celebrate:

  • Throw out all the single leftover socks.
  • Use the leftover socks as cleaning cloths. Or spend the day making sock monkeys out of the socks that have sadly lost their partners to the sock black hole.
  • Have a minute of silence for all the socks you have lost.

WORLD COCKTAIL DAY

Friday the 13th is usually regarded as one of the unluckiest days of the year, but this Friday could perhaps be one of the luckiest as we celebrate World Cocktail Day 2022. It is held on this day because it is said to be the first date on which a cocktail was officially defined.

In 1806, New York newspaper ‘The Balance and Columbian Repository’ received a letter asking what a cocktail was.
Responding in the outlet’s 13 May edition, editor Harry Croswell described one as: “A stimulating liquor composed of spirits of any kind, sugar, water and bitters.”

WORLD MEDITATION DAY

World Meditation Day was celebrated on May 21st, 2022, hence we can celebrate it every day. Meditation is a practice derived from Hinduism and Buddhism. The goal of meditation is to focus and understand your mind—eventually reaching a higher level of awareness and inner calm. Meditation is an ancient practice, but scientists are still discovering all of its benefits. Regular meditation can help you to control your emotions, enhance your concentration, decrease stress, and even become more connected to those around you.
